HEMPSTEAD EDUCATION BOARD PRESIDENT CHARLES RENFROE SPEAKS TO 100 BLACK MEN OF LONG ISLAND, INC. MEMBERSHIP
HEMPSTEAD, NY) – Charles Renfroe, President for Hempstead Union Free School District thanked One Hundred Black Men of Long Island, Inc. Members for mentoring students at Hempstead Public Schools during the May General Membership meeting.

President Renfroe Thanked Members for Mentoring District Students.
(HEMPSTEAD, NY) – Charles Renfroe, President for Hempstead Union Free School District thanked One Hundred Black Men of Long Island, Inc. Members for mentoring students at Hempstead Public Schools during the May General Membership meeting.
Mr. Renfroe said Members exemplify the kind of positive role models that students need in their lives to help further their education and personal ambitions. One Hundred Members mentor over 50 males in grades 9 - 12. Mentors and mentees have discussions on topics such as skills for success, self esteem and positive relationships. An emphasis is placed on mentees’ expressing their feelings, attitudes and life goals. The Chapter program is conducted in collaboration with Institute for Student Achievement- Liberty Partnerships Program (LPP), Lake Success, NY.
In the past year, students of the Long Island Chapter mentoring program have attended the 100 Black Men of America Annual Conference in New York City, and participated in educational and cultural field trips to the New York Stock Exchange, and Schomberg Centre for African-American History & Culture.
Mr. Renfroe was presented with a Chapter Certificate of Recognition for his commitment to improving education for Long Island youth from OHBMLI President Phil Andrews. Meeting attendees also witnessed the pinning of three new Members; David Perkins of Spingarn Counseling Service Inc., Fareed E. Omar II, Real Estate Agent, and Mandell Smith, State Farm Insurance Agent.
