100 Black Men of Long Island Inc. Fall Luncheon Sat. Oct. 24, 09 Long Island Marriott-Uniondale, LI



PRLog (Press Release) – Sep 01, 2009 – On Saturday, October 24, 2009, the One Hundred Black Men of Long Island Inc. will honor two distinguished individuals for their extraordinary achievements in contributing to the improvement of the educational services in our communities.

The honorees are Mr. Reginald Stroughn of The Hempstead School District and Mrs. Mary Adams Board Member Nassau Community College. These individuals will be recognized and celebrated at the “Mentoring for Tomorrow’s Leaders Luncheon.
The Keynote speaker for the occasion will be Professor Leonard Jeffries, Chair of the African American Studies Department of New York University.

Highlighting the event will be live entertainment by the Melvin Smith Jazz Band and Michael Coleman; Sports Commentator of News12 will be the Master of Ceremonies.

The One Hundred Black Men of Long Island is one of several chapters nationwide. The purpose of the organization is to give back to the community 100% effort in rebuilding and strengthening our communities economically, socially and politically. Youth initiatives have been of primary focus in recent years as has the imperative to address the economic plight of Long Island communities.

Proceeds from the affair will benefit the goals and objectives of our “Four for the Future” program, as well as other program initiatives including the African American History Bowl, mentoring programs at Hempstead High School, and several endowments at Hofstra University, Adelphi University, SUNY at Farmingdale and Nassau Community College.

The Awards Luncheon will be held at the Long Island Marriott Hotel and Conference Center, in Uniondale, New York. The luncheon is from 12:00 Noon to 4:00 PM. Tickets are $85.00.
